Terms of Service

Effective date: March 2026Jurisdiction: South Africa
01

Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using PatternLab, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

These terms apply to all users of PatternLab, including free and paid accounts.

02

Description of service

PatternLab is a pre-research intelligence tool that uses AI to synthesize probabilistic experience archetypes, hypotheses, and research questions based on concepts submitted by users.

Outputs are probabilistic in nature and are intended to support — not replace — human research. PatternLab does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of any output.

03

Appropriate use

You agree to use PatternLab only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms.

You agree not to use PatternLab to generate outputs intended to deceive, manipulate, or misrepresent research findings to third parties, to submit concepts containing personally identifiable information about real individuals, to attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the service, or to resell or sublicense access to the service without written permission.

04

Intellectual property

Research briefs generated by PatternLab are provided for your use. You may share, export, and incorporate outputs into your own work.

The PatternLab name, logo, methodology, and underlying software remain the intellectual property of PatternLab. You may not reproduce or represent PatternLab's methodology as your own without attribution.

05

Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. To request a refund, contact us within 7 days of your initial payment.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers.

06

Fair use

Pro and Team plans include unlimited research runs subject to fair use. We define fair use as usage consistent with normal research workflows. Automated, bulk, or programmatic generation of briefs at scale is not permitted under these plans.

We reserve the right to contact users whose usage patterns suggest misuse and to suspend accounts that violate fair use in our reasonable judgement.

07

Limitation of liability

PatternLab outputs are probabilistic intelligence tools, not research findings. We are not liable for any decisions made on the basis of PatternLab outputs.

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, PatternLab's total liability for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid in the 30 days preceding the claim.

08

Disclaimer of warranties

PatternLab is provided on an "as is" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, reliability, or fitness for purpose of outputs generated by the service.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

09

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in misuse, or are associated with fraudulent payment activity.

You may terminate your account at any time by cancelling your subscription and ceasing use of the service.

10

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of PatternLab shall be subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.
